The last writing workshop at the BIG, within the framework of the Cultive ta science event, tackled the theme proposed by Sophie Latappy: “Logbook of an artificial intelligence (AI)”. Its definition as a basis for discussion was: AI is the science of which the goal is to make a machine do tasks that man accomplishes using his intelligence.
Starting from images of different AIs present in the medical environment, with the elderly or autistic children, with people with motor disabilities, in our living environment, in our vehicles, in search engines, in cinematographic fictions, the three participants were invited to write the chosen AI’s Logbook in first person.
It emerged from this workshop that AI elicits two reactions. One, positive, namely the help that this type of technology can bring to humans, on condition that you keep your free will and know how to balance their use. Recognize that AI will not replace humans, their great freedom of action, emotions and reactions resulting from their intimate experience and their history, and their ability to be impermanent and complex.
The other reaction being the fundamental fear of being enslaved, the fear that AI will replace humans which would lead to the loss of our independence, of free will in our lives.
During this workshop, he was particularly focused on listening to each other’s texts in their wide variety of styles, around this common theme.
