Gourdon. Former students’ journeys captivate current high school students

Friday, November 24, as part of guidance support, a day of professional meetings was organized at the Léo-Ferré school campus in Gourdon by Béatrice Duvignacq, professor of economics and business management. The aim of this day was to bring together 1re and Tle professional baccalaureate students in commerce and sales, and former professional baccalaureate commerce students from Gourdon high school.

Around fifteen alumni responded and came to meet the high school students throughout the day, around round tables, in small groups of students.

The young high school students were curious about the careers of their alumni, the crucial post-high school period, and also curious about their successes or their disappointments. They themselves will soon have to choose their direction or enter professional life for some, and the questions have flowed in this direction.

Some former students recounted their journey. Alicia is the assistant manager of a beauty salon, completely happy with her job; she took the drama out of the exams. Daphné is an order picker, what mattered to her was to stay near Gourdon and her job suits her. Julien is the director of a small supermarket and his diverse career after his BTS MCO made the eyes of several students shine. Antoine is preparing a professional degree in web project manager and digital strategy. Since 2021, his course in Brive has been alternated with Maison Valette. “I’m making my dream come true,” he said.

Tle students are already determined: Margot wants to be a naturopathic beautician; Lilyo wants to do a work-study BTS in management, Jules is heading towards a BTS in tourism, Léa is aiming for an aesthetic BTS. Oksana will take a language degree in Lyon or Toulouse, she will study Korean and English to carry out a project she has in mind.

Our youth are doing well, confident in their future, determined in their path.

Béatrice Duvignacq and Jena Hontion, head of the business office, are encouraging through this day to strengthen the school/business link and to prepare young people for their future integration into professional life. For this meeting, they noted great exchanges. A very positive day.
