Köln.The Göttingen professional soccer player Pauline Bremer has now also won the DFB Cup with her club VfL Wolfsburg. In the clear 4-0 (3-0) win against her former club Turbine Potsdam on Saturday, the 26-year-old came on as a substitute in the final stages and even had a chance to make it 5-0 in the 86th minute. But her shot from the left was parried by Turbine keeper Anna Wellmann.

For Bremer, who had switched from Manchester City to Wolfsburg before the 2020/21 season, but was injured for a long time in her first season with the “wolves”, it was the first German double in her career – last season Wolfsburg had also secured the cup, but had to give way to FC Bayern in the championship.

During her time in France, Bremer had even won the treble of championship, cup triumph and Champions League victory twice in a row. As in the two Bundesliga games against Potsdam with two 3-0 victories, the defending champions again turned out to be the better team. The “wolves” secured their sixth double after 2013, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 with their 40th consecutive win in a cup game.
Afterwards there was a boisterous celebration and Bremer carried her cheering teammate across the pitch. When the medals were awarded, she was congratulated by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
