Gotham Greens, of Seagoville, Texas, has just finished its latest greenhouse. It covers an impressive 2 hectares and is packed with leafy greens and fresh herbs.
“This is our 13th greenhouse nationwide, bringing our total acreage to over 16 hectares across nine US states. Our new Texas greenhouse uses the most advanced technology to date, in a fully enclosed system to help grow food consistently and reliably closer to where people live, regardless of outside conditions,” says Viraj Puri, CEO and co-founder of Gotham Greens. “Agriculture is a huge part of the Texas economy, leading the US in total number of farms and ranches. Our Texas greenhouse is an example of what lies ahead as we face continued weather events extremes and increased risk of drought. Our winter farm provides ideal conditions for plants to thrive, meaning we can get fresh, sustainably grown vegetables all year round, no matter the season or weather.”
Go Texan
With their large new greenhouse underway, Gotham Greens is committed to donating fresh leafy greens, year-round, to their communities in need.
“In Texas, one in seven people go hungry, including one in six children. We are proud to be part of the Texas Department of Agriculture’s GO TEXAN program, dedicated to highlighting the state’s products and businesses.”
