The “Kleine Zeitung” in Carinthia was confronted with cancellation campaigns, advertising boycotts and the cancellation of press funding, especially in Jörg Haider’s second governor’s era (1999–2008). Not least because of Antonia Gössinger, who as a political journalist criticized the machinations of the FPÖ and later BZÖ government team and uncovered what brought her personal attacks and abuse of Jörg Haider and his entourage. In the STANDARD interview, Gössinger, who has been editor-in-chief of the daily newspaper of the Styria media group since 2015 and will retire at the end of 2020, looks back on the Haider years. She recognizes many parallels to the current Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurz.
