The Golden Gate Quartet The Golden Gate Quartet returns to Israel for two performances to mark the 70th anniversary of the Acre Choir and the 75th anniversary of Medina.
The Golden Gate Quartet was also called the “Golden Gate Quartet”. This is an African-American vocal quartet that was founded in 1934 and still exists today. She will perform in Tel Aviv on Tuesday 27.6.23, 20:00, at the Opera House, in the Mishkan for Performing Arts. The show in Tel Aviv marks the beginning of the celebrations of the 90th year since its establishment. Over the years, the members of the group changed, but to this day it is considered one of the most successful vocal groups of all time in the field of black music, which became famous for its performances of the best hits in a variety of styles: gospel, spirituals, blues and folk.
Elvis Presley was a fan of them. In his youth he followed them around the United States to see the performances, absorbed and was influenced by the music, and created a gospel album dedicated to the band’s songs. The lead singer and manager of the band, Paul Bramley, decided to record their own version of Elvis’ well-known song Blue Suede Shoes, which they will perform for the first time in Tel Aviv.
The Golden Gate Quartet will also appear as a guest at the “Been Kodesh Le Hul” concert that will take place in Acre between June 25-28. Hundreds of singers, dozens of choirs, performances, workshops and meetings in the knights’ halls and the new cultural hall will transform Acre for four days and nights, with the help of the “Hanbal and Nightingale” association, the Municipality of Acre and the Ministry of Culture into a city celebrating Israeli and international vocal music in the 75th year of the state.
