Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The Israeli military strikes back at the Strip Gaza Palestine, Friday (2/7/2021) early morning. Hamas sources said the attacks hit several places in the region.
This is the latest escalation since a ceasefire ended the May conflict. But Hamas said there were no casualties in the incident.
Meanwhile, Israel again justified its attack by calling it a response to incendiary balloons thrown by Palestine. Fighter jets strike a location where Hamas weapons are located.
“(This is) in response to an incendiary balloon that was fired into Israeli territory today (Thursday),” the Israeli army said in a statement written AFP.
“Military fighter jets attack.”
Yesterday, Israel’s fire service said Gaza’s incendiary balloon ignited a small fire in the South Eshkol region, which borders the two territories. However, the fire was quickly brought under control.
“The fire was small and harmless,” the local fire service said. There was no immediate indication of the Hamas group being responsible for the balloon launch.
The war broke out between Hamas and the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip last Ramadan. Both sides agreed to a ceasefire since May 21.
The conflict killed 260 Palestinians. In Israel, 13 people have been killed, including a soldier, by firing Gaza rockets.
Israel has maintained a blockade that crippled Gaza since 2007. In the same year, Hamas took control of the area.
