Gorbachev reveals what he thinks about Putin’s war against Ukraine

The former leader of the Soviet Union, Mikhail Gorbachev, believes that the current president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, destroyed everything he wanted to leave behind, reports pravda.com.ua.

Gorbachev’s close friend – journalist Oleksiy Venediktov – told “Forbes” in an interview about Gorbachev’s reaction to Putin’s war in Ukraine.

“I can say that he is disappointed. Of course, he understands what is happening. It was his life’s work that has now been destroyed. Freedom is Gorbachev’s business,” said the journalist, recalling the “Glasnost” policy, which included speech and religion in particular freedom.

As the journalist noted, when Gorbachev was the head of the USSR in 1985-1991, there were four thousand military personnel from the NATO rapid reaction forces in Europe.

Now NATO has announced that there will be 300,000 people here by the end of next year,” Gorbachev said.
