Goranov: A coalition between GERB and BSP is not on the agenda – 2024-09-12 20:30:26

/ world today news/ The topic of a coalition between GERB and BSP is not on the agenda. This was stated by the resigned Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov to bTV.

“Two parties, diametrically opposed in terms of ideology, can come together either if they want to preserve the political model so that populists do not enter it, or when the state is in an extremely severe crisis and emergency measures are needed. The current state of the country does not suggest such a symbiosis,” announced Goranov. He is adamant that such a coalition has not been discussed in GERB.

When asked why Boyko Borisov’s party could not complete a single full mandate, Goranov replied that they could have completed a full mandate out of spite. According to him, the administration in the ministries has no reason to be in “shock and panic”, because in recent years there has always been continuity, especially in the Ministry of Finance. He admits, however, that under caretaker governments the pace of work decreases. Vladislav Goranov also admitted that at one point he did not know whether it was better to withdraw the draft budget for 2017 prepared by his team or to continue insisting on its adoption.

“The alternative was to implement last year’s budget, but then it would not be possible to increase the minimum wage, the salaries of the municipal administration, social workers and teachers. Therefore, it is better to adopt this budget”, explained Goranov.

Regarding the flat tax dispute with the BSP, the outgoing minister announced that the flat tax is much fairer from the taxpayer’s point of view and as a result it is much easier to collect and the revenue is more. He added that many European countries are moving towards its introduction.

According to Goranov, in the “KTB” case, the biggest problem, apart from the way the bank was managed, was the lack of time from its declaration of insolvency to the appointment of receivers.
