Goran Ivanisevic reveals Novak Djokovic’s schedule ahead of Wimbledon

Thanks to his victory in Paris a few days ago, ATP number one Novak Djokovic is the only player in history to have won all Grand Slam tournaments at least twice. Novak overtook Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas in Roland Garros’ final game, beating him with a score of 6-7, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 after being just one step away from the brink.

Wimbledon starts in a few weeks, Djokovic will try to defend his title against Swiss Roger Federer two years ago.

Goran Ivanisevic’s opinion

The Belgrade champion has decided to prepare for the Wimbledon tournament on the lawn of Mallorca in Spain.

June there will be a new date in the ATP 250 category, which has been postponed to 2021 due to the health emergency due to the coronavirus pandemic. “We should be there on Wednesday,” said Goran Ivanisevic, Djokovic’s current coach, as published by Essentially Sports.

Regarding the possibility of Novak taking part in the Spanish tournament, the 2001 Wimbledon champion said, “In my opinion we shouldn’t go to the event because the grass at Wimbledon is very different from that in Mallorca.”

Ivanisevic also pointed out that it is necessary to show up in London three days in advance as Novak will make his debut as the trophy holder on Monday. Djokovic had five successes at Wimbledon: 2011, 2014, 2015, 2018 and of course 2019, he achieved the longest final in the history of the tournament.

Novak has also won the ATP Finals five times, the last time in 2015: on that occasion he defeated Federer 6-3, 6-4. As for Rafael Nadal, the Spaniard has reached the semi-finals of the last two editions of Church Road, in an event he has not been able to win in a decade.
