Göran Hermansson has played in the Elitserien for Djurgården, Brynäs, Björklöven and Leksand. At the same time, he also became a big profile in Norwegian hockey. Falusonen has now passed away, aged 49.
– All of us in Sparta – and in the hockey family at large – send our warmest condolences to Göran’s family, says Sparta Sarpsborg head coach Sjur Robert Nilsen till sa.no.
The former center arrived in Falun and quickly won a place in the Elitserien. Even as a 22-year-old, Göran Hermansson played in Djurgården and then played his first season in the Swedish top league.
It was then a year in Arlanda and Hockeyettan before the move went to Brynäs.
There were two more seasons where he also took part and won SM gold with Gävleklubben in the spring of 1999. After the adventure in Brynäs, he moved on to Björklöven where there were two seasons, the last of which as captain where Björklöven also went up to the Elitserien again.
There was then a move home to Dalarna and Leksand where there were three seasons, two in the Elitserien and one in the Allsvenskan. The transfer team then moved on to Norway, where there were a total of nine seasons and 388 games for Sparta Sarpsborg and Stjernen Hockey.
“Wonderful person”
After the career continued Goran Hermansson on the ice hockey field and then became an assistant coach for Stjernen Hockey for two seasons. There were also four seasons as head coach for Comet Halden in the second division before he took over Lions HC in Swedish division three. There were two seasons there.
Now Göran Hermansson has died of cancer.
– Of all the players I have played and trained with over the years, Göran Hermansson stands out as one who was truly complete. A wonderful person, family man and teammate. He gave as much of himself when he arrived here as one of the team’s stars as he did when he finished his career at Sparta as a fourth-string player. Göran gave everything for society, no matter what, says Sjur Robert Nilsen till sa.no.
– This is terribly heavy. All of us in Sparta – and in the hockey family at large – send our warmest condolences to Göran’s family.
