Göran Hermansson played a total of 259 matches in the Elitserien and represented several classic Swedish clubs such as Leksand, Brynäs, Djurgården and Björklöven.

In the 1998/99 season, he played in Brynäs, which won the SM gold.

Hermansson spent the last years of his playing career in the Norwegian league with several seasons in Sparta Sarpsborg and Stjernen Hockey, where he became a valued profile. He remained in Norway after his career and worked, among other things, as a coach.

After a period of cancer, Hermansson passed away on Sunday at the age of 49, something that the Norwegian media wrote about on Monday. In the newspaper Sarpsborg Arbeiderblad Hermansson is described as “one of the very biggest hockey profiles in Østfold”.

Niklas Persson: “Didn’t know how bad it was”

Niklas “Pajen” Persson played several seasons with Göran Hermansson in Leksand in the early 2000s.

He says that they became close to each other and spent a lot of time with both family and children.

– I actually didn’t know how bad it was with him, which made this come as a shock. It is very tragic and I think of the family and everyone who was close to Göran, he tells Expressen.

– Göran was incredibly warm and had a big heart. He was very caring and a hell of a fun person to be around. Göran always made you feel good. As a player, he was incredibly serious and trained very hard. He always put the team and the club first. There is nothing bad to say about him.

Daniel Rudslätt: “We were very close”

Daniel Rudslätt and Göran Hermansson won SM gold together in Brynäs in the 98/99 season.

They also played together in Arlanda Wings.

– We were very close and followed each other up in Brynäs. We got to win gold together there, and it was a journey together that will always last.

Rudslätt continues:

– He is one of the kindest people I have ever met. He has an incredibly good heart. We had many great years together, then we haven’t had much contact after our careers. I actually didn’t know he was sick. It is incredibly sad for such a young person. Thoughts go out to his family and children of course.

Ove Molin was also part of Brynäs’ golden team and he remembers the time with Hermansson fondly.

– Göran was a fantastic teammate and an incredible team player. He was liked by everyone, says Molin to Expressen.
