Palakkad: Palakkad erupts again in Congress. Former DCC president AV Gopinath, who resigned from the party yesterday and announced his intention to contest against Shafi Parambil, is sure that the UDF will lose control of the Peringottukurishi Grama Panchayat. UDF members, including AV Gopinath, are preparing to resign from the panchayat committee. The panchayat rule, which has been in the hands of the UDF for 42 years, is being lost all at once. The Congress has 11 members on the 16-member governing council. The CPM also has five members.
A meeting of Congress members is being convened in the evening to discuss the resignation. AV Gopinath has come out with a new pressure strategy by announcing his resignation. KV Gopinath has warned KPCC president Mullappally to resolve the issues within two days.
VK Sreekandan went for a consensus discussion with AV Gopinath who said that group games were being played in the Congress but it did not matter. AV Gopinath says that he cannot stand in the Congress without the group and that he is a victim of it. AV Gopinath said that he was conducting a poll of Congress workers in the district and had earlier promised to make him the DCC president. No demand has been made to the leadership on its own. I do not know why it did not happen. Chennithala informed that his name was suggested. And yet it did not happen. It will be a new impetus for the Congress workers in the district. Some people don’t like it – says AV Gopinath.
At present, AV Gopinath is adamant that he will not back down from his resignation. Mullappally asked for a solution in the group game. Mullappally has sincerity. He demanded that the issue be resolved within two days. Gopinath says there is hope.
