This morning, the head of the Carabineros Ñuble Zone, General María Teresa Araya, accompanied by the highest regional authorities and residents of the eastern sector of the commune of Chillán, met to witness the delivery of the barracks that, from today, will house the Group of Special Police Operations “GOPE” Ñuble, which until this date, did not have a physical space to operate.
After years of service, the now former Retén Bonilla, changed its ordinary functions giving way to a dual-function barracks, the first at the national level, since on the one hand it will house the GOPE Ñuble, from where they will be deployed to the entire region and also It will continue to operate 24 hours a day to take complaints.
“This is an effort that materializes thanks to trust, since after many work meetings, together with the Municipality and the Neighborhood Associations of the sector, where we listened carefully to their concerns, we finalized this agreement that benefits the entire community and allows a better distribution of our resources,” said the head of the Carabineros Ñuble Zone, General María Teresa Araya.
The Regional Presidential delegate, Anwar Farrán, highlighted the important work carried out by the Institution, “Carabineros is very loved in the country, which accounts for the 83% approval rate, a recognition to which we adhere,” he also added, regarding the procedures of rescue of the GOPE Ñuble, which “allow the lives of the victims to be saved, through the complex operations they carry out, such as the recent rescue in Laguna Huemul, last weekend.”
Meanwhile, the Regional Governor, Óscar Crisóstomo, highlighted the importance of working with neighbors, “I believe that it is essential to be able to listen to our communities, which ultimately solves the problems that our country and in this case the commune of Chillán.”
Starting today, Captain Aldo Sepúlveda, head of the GOPE Ñuble, will be responsible for the administration of the barracks, being very welcomed by the Neighborhood Associations represented by their directors, who, through a letter, gave their consent to carry out this activity. .
“This milestone allows the Chillán Oriente Tenancy to increase its staff by 16 Carabineros and 2 vehicles, where the mixed patrols, made up of municipal inspectors and our police officers, will also continue working,” said General Araya.
After the traditional ribbon cutting, there was a tour of the facilities and a demonstration of the different special actions carried out by this team, intended for the most complex tasks of the institution.
