The company has tested this new function in the versions 85 browsers Chrome Dev and Chorme Canary, beta and alpha, respectively.
“We are implementing this experiment display domain simplified to be able to perform qualitative and quantitative research to understand if they help users identify malicious web pages with greater precision,” said a developer Chromium.
Specifically, this new option will hide in the top bar of the browser the full URL and only show domain name, as reported by Android Police.
Google has also confirmed that, in the case of all users, it is possible to keep the URL as it appears now, by selecting the bar with the right button of the mouse and then select “always Show the complete URLS”.
So far, the only change has been carried out in test versions of Chrome, so it is unknown whether it will reach to the users or not.
