Google Announces Significant Expansion in AI-Powered Editing Tools
Google has recently made a noteworthy announcement regarding its AI-powered editing tools in Google Photos. This significant expansion by the tech giant includes offering these editing tools, including the Magic Editor featured in the recently launched Pixel 8, for free to all users.
Unlocking Features for Everyone
Previously, these advanced editing features were only accessible to users with a Google One subscription or those owning a Pixel device. The most notable addition to the free features is the Magic Eraser, initially introduced with Pixel 6 in 2021. This feature, which allows users to easily remove identified people, objects, and other distractions by manually selecting and circling them, has received wide acclaim.
Additionally, Google has made other remarkable features available to all users, including Magic Editor, Unblur, HDR effects for photos and videos, Portrait blur, Portrait light, Color pop, Sky suggestions, Cinematic photos, Styles in collage editor, and Video effects.
Expanded Accessibility and Compatibility
With this latest development, Google is ensuring increased accessibility for a wider range of devices and users. These features will now be accessible on devices running Android 8.0 or higher and iOS 15 or newer, with at least 3GB of RAM. Furthermore, Pixel tablet owners will also have the privilege of accessing these tools.
Enhancements in Magic Editor
Magic Editor, previously exclusive to the Pixel 8 series, is coming to all Pixel devices. This editor utilizes generative AI technology, enabling users to enjoy drag-and-drop Photoshop functionalities. Users can easily reposition subjects, alter their size, and even manipulate the sky, including the ability to remove clouds.
Usage Limitations
While many of these features are freely available, Google has implemented certain usage limitations. All Google Photos users on Android and iOS will receive 10 Magic Editor saves per month. Users who wish to make additional edits beyond this limit are recommended to have either a Pixel device or a Google One Premium plan (2TB and above).
Upcoming Availability
Google plans to make these expanded features available to users on May 15. The rollout will be gradual, taking several weeks to reach all users.
