Google ends this search box

Nearly ten years ago, Google introduced a specific search field in its search engine results called Sitelinks Search Box. Sitelinks are links from the same domain that are grouped under a result.

Appearing above the sitelinks of certain websites, the search box allows you to perform site-specific searches directly from the Google search results page.

From November 21, the Sitelinks Search Box search bar will no longer be available. A pure and simple deletion which is justified by a drop in its use. Google specifies that the removal will not impact ranking or other sitelinks.

A visual element deemed superfluous

It’s been over a decade since we first announced the Sitelinks Search Box in Google Search, and over time we’ve seen its usage decline. In this context, and to simplify search results, we will remove this visual element from November 21, 2024 “, can we read on Google Search Central.
