It’s a major transformation that could be accomplished at the Good-Year Dunlop in Montluçon. The management presented this morning a project called “Montana” which would make the Bourbon site a “European center of excellence for the production of high-end motorcycle tires”.
Up for grabs an investment of 16.5 million euros “in particular for the purchase and installation of new machines”. “The production volumes of motorcycle tires could be reallocated to Montluçon,” says the tire giant. On the other hand, the project foresees the stop and then the transfer to other sites of the group of the production of tires for light trucks and most of tires for scooters. “All permanent positions on the site would be maintained,” says GoodYear, with staff training programs. The 3X8 team and weekend organizations would also be maintained.
“This project represents a unique opportunity for the Goodyear site in Montluçon, which would become the group’s European reference in a particularly lively segment driven by strong demand.explains the president of GoodYear France Pierre-Jean Eraud. This investment project confirms Goodyear’s willingness to remain rooted in France by investing in the modernization of its sites, in Amiens, Riom and today in Montluçon, despite the difficult context of a rapidly evolving market “.
This project could be completed within a year and a half, following the information-consultation procedure with the employee representative bodies.
