London rental platform Goodlord has partnered with Legal & General to offer renters health and injury insurance specifically tailored for them. The new product, which will be launched in June 2021, covers rental costs and bills in the event that an illness or injury prevents tenants from working.
The product is ideal for those who have a limited right or are not entitled to sick pay from their employer, or for the self-employed. Insurance can be contracted from 6 pounds per month, and requests are processed through the rental platform of Goodlord. If the client is unable to work due to an accident or illness, the insurance begins to pay after four weeks of absence and will then pay a chosen monthly cash payment for a maximum of 12 months. It does not cover unemployment.
Goodlord already offers Legal Expense and Rental Protection Insurance and Renters Liability and Content Insurance; which makes that this is your third insurance product.
“By partnering with Goodlord we have been able to create a ‘digital’ protection product that supports its rental customers when they need it most. Income protection doesn’t have to be complicated and our Sickness and Injury Insurance helps renters take control of their coverage, so they can continue to pay for the things they need while on sick or injured leave. ” says David Lundholm, Director of New Revenue Streams at Legal & General.
