Instagram is testing a new aspect ratio for the profile, which Reels Creator should especially like.
Reels are now played 50% more often on Facebook and Instagram than they were six months ago. In order to further promote the short video format, despite the criticisms of growing TikTokification, the meta platform is always working on new reel features and options, such as the goal badges discovered in October, which Instagram is currently testing. Another test should also have a significant impact on your personal Instagram profile if implemented. Because the social platform is working on the redesign of the profile – and plans to replace the grid, which was previously square format, with a 4:5 format.
This is the new 4:5 aspect ratio on Instagram
Reverse engineer and app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi recently tweeted that Instagram wants to say goodbye to the square format and instead establish a new aspect ratio in the user profile. The screenshot shows what your Instagram profile could look like in the future.

The new 4:5 aspect ratio is of particular benefit to reel makers and could further strengthen the thrust of the reels. The comments below Paluzzi’s tweet also indicate that the currently tested aspect ratio should work well, especially for accounts that primarily post reels.
This will work well with accounts that only post reels.

So far, there’s no official statement from Instagram about the new aspect ratio, so it’s not yet clear when the 4:5 aspect ratio for the profile will be rolled out more widely.
