Many dozens of people came to the funeral of Rens and Michelle (46), Laurens (13) and Sophie (10) van den Elshout from Raamsdonksveer. A large school bus had even been arranged and the cemetery parking lot was completely full.

The moment that one of the funeral directors walked across the Tuinzigtlaan in Breda with four cars behind him made a big impression. Just like the guard of honor that the scouting group from Raamsdonksveer formed when the cars with the boxes passed. Many interested people greeted the boxes.

A spokesperson for DELA funeral organization says that family of the deceased family has experienced all sympathy as great support. “A lot of tears have been shed and they feel emptiness and upheaval, but through all the expressions of compassion they also experience a lot of love and warmth.”

The sea of ​​flowers at the family’s house became so large that another memorial spot was set up, last Monday in the kiosk on the Heereplein in Raamsdonksveer. “It is a huge support for the family that Rens, Michelle, Laurens and Sophie were so loved by so many people,” says Josje de Zwaan of DELA. “They also want to thank everyone for all the compassion.”

The death of the family has hit their hometown in Raamsdonksveer hard. “We are shocked and sad,” said Mayor Marian Witte after the accident. “We wish their loved ones, family, friends, colleagues, classmates and everyone who suddenly has to miss this family a lot of strength and strength.”

Fatal accident
An entire family from Raamsdonksveer died in the accident that took place on the A59 near Sprang-Capelle. After a collision between four cars and a truck, the family’s car caught fire.

According to bystanders, they could not be rescued because the doors of their car were locked. Another motorist, a 33-year-old man from Zevenbergschen Hoek, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries. There, a breath and saliva test showed that the man had probably drunk too much.
