A sad day for the entertainment world: after the announcement of Nichelle Nichols’ deathcomes a second announcement: the iconic Pat Carroll she passed away at the age of 95. The announcement came on Monday, but the event took place on Saturday 30 July. She the actress was known for starring in the series The Danny Thomas Show and having participated in ER Medici on the Front Line. However, most remember her as the voice of Ursula in the Disney movie The little Mermaid. Pat Carroll was the English voice actress of the sea witch in: The little Mermaid (1989), The Little Mermaid – Ariel’s new marine adventures (1993) e The Little Mermaid II – Return to the abyss (2000).
Pat Carroll said: “It was my dream to work in a Disney movie.”
“All my life I have wanted to work on a Disney movie. When they called me I was delighted. My agent told me ‘you would like to do a casting for a Disney movie’. And I said ‘oh Jesus of course I do’. And then the dream came true, they caught me in one of Disney’s best movies, The Little Mermaid, which is now out in 3D.
I watched all of Ursula’s movements, her hands, her mouth. And so I got in touch with the character and then it was easy. We all loved this character, I think because she is very theatrical. Ursula is fun, often playing a good character can be difficult, while playing a bad character is heaven. – Patt Caroll said in an interview – I think I was a good bad guy.
What made Ursula one of Disney’s most famous and beloved villains? Because she leaves her mark, then she is great, but not only physically, in her head, in her voice, in her laugh, in her movements, in her malice. People are as fascinated by her as cruel personalities as hers. There is a fatal attraction to these villains. I too am intrigued by her personality ”.
