A number of artists attended the sandy carpet for the Sudanese film “Goodbye Julia” by director Mohamed Kordofani, as part of the activities of the sixth session of the El Gouna Film Festival, including Bishri, Engy Al-Mokadam, Naglaa Badr, Mohamed Shaheen, Saba Mubarak, director Hani Khalifa, and director Hadi Al-Bagouri. The film’s heroes who celebrated its screening at the festival also attended.

The film “Goodbye Julia” is directed and written by Mohamed Kordofani and stars theater actress and singer Iman Youssef, model and former Miss South Sudan Siran Riek, and co-starring Nizar Jumaa and Qair Duini, photographed by Pierre de Villiers, edited by Heba Othman, sound engineer Rana Eid, and costume design by Mohamed Al-Murr. Its events take place in Khartoum before the secession of the south, where Mona, a northern woman who lives with her husband Akram, causes the death of a southern man, then appoints his wife, Julia, who is looking for him, as a maid in her house and helps her in an attempt to purify herself of guilt.
The film “Goodbye Julia” received its premiere in the United Kingdom at the London Film Festival, and the film won a number of international awards, as it won the Roger Ebert Award at the Chicago International Film Festival, two awards from the War on Screen Festival in France, namely the Audience Award and the Press Award, and won It also won 3 international awards at the Paysages de Cinéastes Festival, which are the Emerging Jury Award, the Audience Award, and the Women’s Jury Award. It also won the Best African Film award at the Septimus International Awards.
“Goodbye Julia” began with awards at the Cannes International Film Festival, where it won the Freedom Prize and had its world premiere. Sudan was also chosen to represent it at the 96th Academy Awards to compete for Best International Film for the year 2024. The film had participated in the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and the Melbourne International Film Festival.
