Joe Lara, 58, died on May 29 in a plane crash along with his wife and five other people. The actor and producer was best known for playing Tarzan in Tarzan – The great adventure, television series that aired between 1996 and 1997.
As he writes The Hollywood Reporter, Joe Lara lost his life with his wife Gwen Shamblin in a plane crash near Nashville. The Cessna C501 private jet, which departed from Smyrna Rutherford County Airport for Palm Beach, suddenly crashed into the waters of Percy Priest Lake. The Federal Aviation Administration did not provide further details on what happened.
Rutherford County Rescue Teams worked through the night between Saturday and Sunday but no survivors were found. “Our efforts have gone from the initial hope of rescue to the recovery of the corpses,” said a spokesperson who coordinated the rescue. Also on board was the actor’s wife, Gwen Shamblin Lara, 66, author and Christian-inspired diet guru. The Weight Down Workshop and the Remnant Fellowship Church. The couple married in 2018 and lived in Brentwood, Tennessee.
Born in San Diego, California on February 2, 1962, William Joseph Lara began his career as a model before landing the lead role in the 1989 CBS film as a rookie. Tarzan a Manhattan, which saw the king of the jungle in action in New York. He then played the character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs in the TV series Tarzan – The great adventure. Lara has also appeared in action films such as Midnight target (1992), The Warrior of Steel (1993), Final Equinox (1995), Judgment day (2000) and in various TV series, including Baywatch e Conan. The actor leaves his daughter Liana.
