The emigrants atGoodbye Germany” often not only find a new life in the distance – some of them also became well-known TV faces through the Vox show, which viewers will not forget over the years.

For almost 16 years, “Goodbye Germany‘ as one of the most popular Vox programs – and brought out a lot of stars and little starlets. We’ve rounded up the ones that viewers can’t get out of their minds.

“Goodbye Germany” (Vox): Daniela Katzenberger, Konny Reimann and Co. – the most famous emigrants

Daniela Katzenberger

Probably the most famous emigrant is Daniela Katzenberger. The blonde was only accompanied in 2009 with “Up and away – my foreign diary”, as she wanted to hand in her application personally to Hugh Hefner († 91) in the Playboy villa in Los Angeles. With her open and sympathetic nature, the Palatinate had great entertainment potential and was accompanied by “Goodbye Germany” from January 2010.

This was followed by the opening of the “Café Katzenberger” in August 2010 in Santa Ponca on Mallorca and a month later with “Daniela Katzenberger – naturally blond” the first own docu-soap on Vox. Meanwhile, Daniela Katzenberger has switched to RTL2, her mother Iris Klein and her sister Jennifer Frankhauser, as well as her husband Lucas Cordalis and their daughter Sophia are now in the spotlight.

Equestrian Reimann

US emigrant Konrad “Konny” Reimann can also look back on a 15-year TV career through “Goodbye Germany”. His emigration to Texas with his wife Manuela (who had won a green card in 2004) and their two children was initially accompanied by “Extra – das RTL-Magazin”, but with the first episode of the Vox show in August 2006, the Reimans a permanent place in the format.

The 66-year-old Konny is particularly popular with the public because of his North German humor and his boyish nature. Over the years, Konny did advertising for Ford and Müllermilch, among others, even appeared on Stefan Raab’s “TV total Stock Car Crash Challenge” and is still very much in the TV business today. After their own reality documentary on RTL Zwei, the Reimanns have been accompanied by Kabel Eins since 2022 for “Welcome to the Reimanns” while living on “Konny Island” in Hawaii.

“Goodbye Germany” (Vox): Jens Büchner became notorious

Jens Buechner

Unfortunately, Vox fans will never know how the TV career of “Goodbye Germany” star Jens Büchner († 49) would have developed. On November 17, 2018, the cult emigrant died, who despite many setbacks never lost heart.

More about “Goodbye Germany”:

————–

He was seen on television for the first time in 2011 when he emigrated to Mallorca with his then girlfriend Jennifer Matthias and their son and opened a boutique there. In 2013 there was a business and professional separation, Büchner then struggled in various fields of activity (jewellery design, gastronomy, hotelier) and started a career as a pop singer in 2014.

In the summer of 2015, the emigrant met Daniela Karabas (now Danni Büchner), who followed him to Mallorca. The couple became parents of twins in 2016 and married in 2017. Jens Büchner also took part in the RTL jungle camp that year, and in the summer of 2018 he and Daniela moved to the “Summer House of the Stars”. Jens Büchner died a few months later as a result of lung cancer. His wife Daniela Büchner is still accompanied by the Vox show and started a solo TV career (“Jungle Camp”, “Celebrity Big Brother”).

Caroline and Andreas Robens, Peggy Jerofke and Steff Jerkel

“Goodbye Germany” faces like the bodybuilder couple Caroline and Andreas Robens and the café owners Peggy Jerofke and Steff Jerkel made the leap from the emigrant country of Mallorca to RTL television. Both couples took part in the “Summer House of the Stars”, among other things, and the Robens even won it in the summer of 2020.

“Goodbye Germany” (Vox): These cult emigrants are unforgettable

Even without a major TV career, there are “Goodbye Germany” emigrants who will stick in viewers’ minds because of their special story.

Nikki and Alicia King

These include Nikki and Alicia King. The couple met in a Düsseldorf café when Alicia was still called Alexander. Three years later, King had surgery to become a woman, after which the two married. Since 2014, the two millionaires have been accompanied by “Goodbye Germany” in their luxury life in Cannes on the Côte d’Azur. There is always something going on there with renovations to the large villa or the education of bull terrier “Diva”. Alicia’s transformation into a woman and the prejudices she and Nikki are confronted with are also part of the show. The emigrants also have their say in the Vox format “Male, Female, Divers”, which was broadcast in January 2022.

Other well-known “Goodbye Germany” emigrants:

  • Kathrin and Tommy Mermi-Schmelz emigrated to Brazil in 2007 to open a beach bar, they now run a food truck in Baden-Württemberg
  • Matthias Bück moved to Koh Samui in Thailand in 2008, where he opened a bar with his wife Hania. The marriage broke up in 2013 and Bück has lived alone in Thailand since then

Anke and Dirk Leihauser

On the other hand, Anke and Dirk Leihäuser as Hasi and Didi caused heartache among the spectators. In 2008, the people of Wermelskirchen emigrated to Lake Garda in Italy, where they wanted to sell currywurst and their own special sauce to men and women. The “snack paradise” became a great success – but Hasi and Didi’s marriage broke up in 2016. He fell in love with another woman and went back to Germany, while Hasi stayed in Italy.

After a few setbacks, including a drop in sales due to the Corona crisis and health problems, Hasi is now on the mend. The 55-year-old continues to be accompanied by “Goodbye Germany” – and is now even open to a new love that races across the island with her in the red currywurst mobile.
