Apparently there is nothing to get excited about when Chris Töpperwien is known for “Goodbye Germany”. The emigrant has built a life in the USA in California with his wife and son and his own café and can also enjoy a certain degree of fame.
But when he reported on his Instagram story on Friday (August 18), he was anything but in a good mood. Quite the contrary, the “Goodbye Germany” star is pissed off and at people from his home country of all things.

The shop owner writes about a photo of the terrace of his café: “I don’t know, but normally we never have to clear the tables because our customers always throw the paper plates and so on in the garbage, which is also outside.” Then he lashes out again and says: “Somehow many Germans just don’t have any manners and think that everything has to be cleared away after them. Unthinkable for our local customers.”
Plates, mugs and bowls are scattered across the table – obviously left there for others to clear away. An absurdity, says Töpperwien and vents his anger. As a reaction, there are a lot of angry messages from other Germans. “I post this and what happens? Germans write to me: ‘Why, isn’t that customer service, that you put it away for them?’” he then railed.

Töpperwien sees a clear pattern among German tourists. Initially, he would not have known that the Rüpel customers were Germans. His team finally enlightened him.
Töpperwien: “Here in California everyone throws their shit in the garbage can. They go and clean it up.” The fact that his youngest visitors apparently lacked this understanding makes him pissed off. “Listen, what’s the matter with you?!”

Then he becomes clear again and rants: “Dear ones out there, stop writing to me that it’s normal to just leave your shit on a table and that’s what the service does.” After all, he believes that his Instagram -Story could have moved something and could encourage one or the other to dispose of their own garbage next time.
