Good start to the new course

Find the first steps towards a common union

When people start together as a group, they react very differently to each other. Worrying about being accepted as one is, being strangers to one another, and the associated insecurities are examples of the effects of dynamic group processes. In order to promote a good start for all members of the class community, a joint seminar can provide safety and guidance, especially at the beginning of a course. Establishing group rules helps define the rules in the group early on, so they don’t have to be “fought” in the first place. Focusing on each individual’s strengths offers additional opportunities for rapprochement and trust building. The opportunity for joint learning and mutual support increases and competitive thinking takes a back seat.
