Sleep not only helps to relax the body, but also contributes to reducing the incidence of a very dangerous disease, according to Dr. Jamal Shaaban, former dean of the National Heart Institute.

Shaaban said that the serious disease he is referring to is a heart attack, pointing out that good sleep is one of the health practices that reduce the risk of contracting it.

The former dean of the Heart Institute cited a recent European study, explaining that researchers found that getting enough sleep every day, at least 5 hours and not more than 8 hours, enhances the health of the heart, brain and blood vessels.
He also pointed out the importance of taking a nap in the middle of the day, because the study showed its effectiveness in preventing coronary heart disease, provided that its duration does not exceed 20 minutes.
