Good Samaritans in Dallas Help Homeless People Amid Pandemic | Univision 23 Dallas Ft. Worth KUVN

Although most of the people who received the economic stimulus money for the Covid-19, took advantage of it to pay off some debt or give themselves a personal taste, there are others who saw in that check the opportunity to make another person happy. That is the case of Ivan Loza, a kindergarten teacher who used his check to help a homeless man named Macario.

“It was a bit unfair for me to receive a stimulus check when there are so many people suffering and they don’t even know where they are going to sleep tonight,” he said when interviewed by News 23 from Dallas.

Loza provided food, clothing, personal hygiene services, a place to live for two months and even employment for the homeless. who is very grateful for this new opportunity to rejoin society.

Another good Samaritan is Irma Soto, a former Dallas policewoman who, with the $ 600 sent by the government, bought tents to house the homeless who live by the bridges of the city of Dallas. He also provided them with breakfast and coffee.

She explained that she did this because when she arrived in the United States she also lived on the streets, but with a lot of effort she managed to work in the police for 21 years and, although she has already retired, she has always remained in debt to the community, especially for those who share life experiences similar to hers.

In the 2019 census, it was said that there were 3,722 indigents in this city, and e = the following year there were 4,447, that is, 749 more.
