Good Samaritan Injured at Pelham Parkway Station After National Guard Assistance Plan Begins

A good Samaritan was injured in an incident at the Pelham Parkway station in the Bronx early Thursday morning, just hours after Governor Hochul’s plan to send members of the National Guard to provide security on the subway began.

Police say the victim, a 53-year-old man, tried to help a woman who was being harassed by two men on the line two train platform shortly before one o’clock.

It was then that the men approached him and one of them wounded him in the hand with a sharp object.

The attackers fled in a white vehicle.

The attack on the man was the second assault on subway transportation after Hochul’s announcement of a new five-point plan to use state resources to help bolster subway security.

Following the announcement, it was reported that an MTA employee was hit with a bottle as a southbound 4 train arrived at the 149th Street and Grand Concourse station, also in the Bronx. The worker was taken to Lincoln Hospital with minor injuries. The suspect fled.
