Good plan: Nancy, the city of Golden Gates

This summer, the editorial staff of Radio Mélodie offers you tips, activities to do in the region. Today, we are heading to Nancy, the capital of the Dukes of Lorraine, with Elise.

Sound N°1 – Good plan: Nancy, the city with Golden Gates

I’ll take you for a little walk around my house, in Nancy, the city of Golden Gates. We obviously start with one of the most beautiful squares in the world, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site: Place Stanislas. This Duke of Lorraine knew how to mark the spirits and his statue sits in the middle of the square that bears his name. You will be able to admire fountains and beautiful gilded gates with gold leaf, signed Jean Lamour.

Take the opportunity to take a walk right next door, in the Parc de la Pépinière. It’s very shaded and if you have young children with you there are a few rides in one corner of the park.

If you’re into a museum, you’ll have plenty to choose from in Nancy. For lovers of Art Nouveau, the museum of the school of Nancy is worth the detour. If you are more interested in animals, the Aquarium museum, just next to Place Stanislas is for you. The one I never tire of doing is the Museum of Fine Arts. You will see everything there, from ancient to modern works.

As you walk, take a good look at the walls, you can admire many street art there.

You can treat yourself to a relaxing break and a tanning session on the banks of the Meurthe, on the new 2 Rives beach.

Finally, all this summer, you can enjoy the many guinguettes installed throughout the city and the magnificent “Rendez-vous Place Stanislas” show, every evening at 10 p.m. until September 12. This year, it’s a retrospective of shows since the creation of this magical summer event.
