Landings of marketed coastal and artisanal fishing products reached 210,703 tonnes (T) in the first three months of this year, up 9% compared to the same period of 2022, according to the National Fisheries Office (ONP). ).
The value of these landings amounted to more than 2.918 billion dirhams (MMDH), against 2.905 billion dirhams a year earlier, said the ONP in its recent report on coastal and artisanal fishing statistics in Morocco.
By species, landings of seaweed, shellfish, crustaceans, white fish and pelagic fish showed respective increases of 51% to 4,091 T, 51% to 46 T, 39% to 2,563 T, 22% to 25,738 T and 13% at 158,722 T. On the other hand, landings of cephalopods fell by 30%.
Per port, a total of 4,974 T of coastal and artisanal fishing products were landed in Mediterranean port entries at the end of March 2023, down 13%. In terms of value, these ports recorded an increase of 9%.
For their part, landings at the ports located on the Atlantic increased, in volume, by 9% to 205,729 T, and in value to more than 2,716 billion dirhams.
