David and Georgia Tennant met on the set of Doctor Who and have been married since 2011. They were also set to star together in the second season of Good Omens, but Georgia turned down the role for good reason, as revealed by writer Neil Gaiman.
Season 2 of Good Omens is scheduled to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on July 28th. This will tell a story that expands on the book by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, but will continue to revolve around the friendship between angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen, Prodigal Son) and demon Crowley (David Tennant, Doctor Who)
A fan on Tumblr asked Gaiman, who also serves as an executive producer, if Sheen’s partner Anna Maxwell Martin is back on board as Beelzebub, or if Tennant’s wife Georgia Tennant has been cast. Here is his answer: “I’m afraid not. Anna was pregnant while we were shooting and wisely stayed away from people during the Corona period. Georgia was offered a role, but she didn’t take it for reasons honoring her. (She did some historical research as she would have played a historical person and told us that the part should go to a much older actress. We then did the same research and realized she was right). If there’s a third season, I’d love to cast both of them.&ldquo
You can stream Good Omens: Season 1 right now on Amazon Prime Video
David and Georgia met on the set of Doctor Who, where she portrayed the Time Lord’s daughter in the episode The Doctor’s Daughter. They have been married since 2011 and are part of a veritable Who dynasty, as Georgia’s father and David’s father-in-law is actor Peter Davison, who played the fifth incarnation of the time-traveling Doctor in the 80s.
