As is well known, the one founded in 1928 can DSV Leoben, from the Donawitz district, look back on a very rum-rich past. From the 1970s to the beginning of the 1990s, DSV Alpine managed to compete in the top Austrian league for a total of 10 years. In June 1995 they even made the leap into the ÖFB Cup final, which Rapid Vienna can then just win. But then difficult times will break out or the Montanstädter will have to put up with some low blows that are not mentioned at this point. In the summer of 2009 you have to go from the 2nd division to the Regionalliga Mitte. Four years later, for better or worse, it means to take note that it is not sporty enough, so you buy the ticket for the national league. There is then the possibility of consolidation, although even in the Steirerliga one is not able to uproot trees. It is currently the 8th season in a row. There are Leoben, in autumn the team of coach Markus Rebernegg can get 11 points from 12 games, but the relegation zone is largely closer or there is a respectful distance to the “interesting places”.
