Good News, There Are Babies Born With Covid-19 Antibodies! How come? – All Pages

CewekBanget.ID – Vaccine Covid-19 necessary so that at least we have antibodies that can fight corona virus.

Even though it doesn’t become immune, we are the ones who have been vaccinated and are exposed to it corona virus will have milder and less fatal symptoms.

But there is good news from Florida, girls!

The reason is, there are babies born who already have antibodies from the corona virus, you know!

Quoted from Kompas.com, a woman in Florida gave birth to a baby believed to be the first birth with Covid-19 antibodies.

This happens because the mother of the baby received vaccinations during pregnancy.

Incidentally, the baby’s mother is also a health worker in Florida, here.

He was injected with the Covid-19 vaccine from Moderna at 36 weeks of gestation.

Reported by the Guardian, this woman gave birth to a healthy baby girl.

These antibodies in babies are found from the time of delivery, when the umbilical cord is examined for blood.

“To our knowledge, this is the first report in the world of a baby born with antibodies after the mother was vaccinated,” said pediatrician Paul Gilbert in a statement to WPBF.

These findings have been reported by Gilbert and Chad Rudnick in a preprint study, meaning they have not been peer reviewed.

The paper explains that the safety and efficacy of flu vaccination for pregnant people has been well studied, especially in terms of protection of newborns by placental transfer of antibodies.

“But not much is known about Covid-19 vaccination and the transfer of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies during pregnancy. However, we hope that the Covid-19 vaccine provides the same protection as the flu vaccine,” Gilbert and Rudnick said.

“We are testing the baby’s blood, to see if the antibodies in the mother are passed on to the baby which is something we see happening with other vaccines that are given during pregnancy,” Gilbert said.

After testing the blood from the baby’s umbilical cord at birth, doctors found the presence of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies.

They recorded it on preprinted reports.

“So, there is potential for protection and reduction in the risk of infection (to infants) from SARS-CoV-2 with maternal vaccinations.”

Reported by IFL Science, Wednesday (17/3/2021), interestingly, previous research found Covid-19 antibodies in the breast milk of mothers recovering from infection.

Experts speculate, maybe Covid-19 antibodies can be transmitted to newborns through breast milk.

However, the study authors stress that it is currently not known how well antibodies will protect the newborn or when is the best time to vaccinate during pregnancy to provide the best possible immunological transfer to the fetus.

“This is one small case where there will be thousands of babies born to mothers who have been vaccinated over the next few months,” Rudnick said.

Further investigations need to be done to see if antibodies are really prevalent in the majority of babies born to mothers and pregnant people who have received the Covid-19 vaccine, and to see if there could be a difference depending on which vaccine was received.

In conclusion, the authors urge other researchers to list pregnancy and breastfeeding and to conduct studies of the efficacy and safety of the Covid-19 vaccine in pregnant and lactating women and their babies.

We just pray that this is good news that will be the beginning of the end of a pandemic in the future, huh!
