VIVA – Blood cancer is the second most common type of cancer in Indonesia. According to Global Cancer Observatory (GLOBOCAN), in 2020 in Indonesia there were 396,914 cancer cases with a death rate reaching 234,511. While for blood cancer alone reached 23,660 cases.
In addition to being one of the leading causes of death, blood cancer is also suffered by many children. According to data Global Burden of Cancer (Globocan), in 2018 it is estimated that there are around 33.5 percent of cases leukemia only in boys aged 0-19 years and 31 percent in girls in Indonesia.
Besides leukemia, there are two other most common types of blood cancer in Indonesia, namely: lymphoma and myeloma. Each of these types of blood cancer has its own cause of formation.
Blood cancer is caused by a dysfunction in the growth and behavior of cells, resulting in an excess of white blood cells produced by the bone marrow, which then leads to cancer.

Unfortunately, until now there is no screening test that is able to detect blood cancer early. So, sufferers can only feel that there is something wrong with their bodies when experiencing symptoms of blood cancer.
