Good news, NASA finds two new planets in the habitable zone

Orbit News, Jakarta-In addition to the earth, it is revealed that the United States Air and Space Administration (NASA) has found a rocky planet in a habitable area named LP 890-9 c.

The planet with a composition of 40% rock is larger than the Earth.

NASA revealed that it discovered the planet by observing a smaller neighboring planet called LP 890-9 b.

NASA claims that these two planets are super-terrestrial or super-terrestrial planets (exoplanets) orbiting a star.

However, NASA does not yet fully know whether the planet’s surface conditions are similar to those of Earth or not.

The two planets orbit a fairly cool star or red dwarf star called LP 890-9 and is 98 light-years from Earth, quoted by the NASA website.

Planet LP 890-9b, which is closest to its star, was discovered by NASA using the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS).

NASA revealed that the planet is 30% larger than Earth with a temperature of around 123 degrees Celsius.

Thus the planet LP 890-9 c which is far from its star is in the habitable zone. The planet has a temperature of about 1.1 degrees Celsius which allows for the existence of liquid water.

The planet was detected through the SPECULOOS telescope (Search for habitable Planets Eclipsing Ultra-cool Stars).

NASA predicts whether the outermost planet is capable of forming an uncontrollable greenhouse effect so that the planet has a temperature not very different from the planet Venus. It is also believed that humans are unable to live on the planet.

The two planets have a different number of days. Where the planet LP 890-9b takes 2.7 Earth days to complete one day and the planet LP 890-9 c takes 8.5 Earth days to complete one day.

The planet’s star has a colder temperature than the Sun. The low temperature also makes the outermost planet a habitable area.

NASA will examine the newly discovered planet through the James Webb telescope. The telescope should use its spectrograph to detect light and use other instruments to detect the atmosphere of the planet LP 890-9 c.

Scientists who discovered the planet explained that the planet would provide a new understanding of atmospheric studies because the planet LP 890-9 c is a planet in the habitable zone other than the planets in the TRAPPIST-1 system.
