Good news: – Long periods of sunshine

If you live in southern Norway south of Stadt, you probably woke up to sunshine today.

A high pressure, located directly north of Scotland, blocks incoming low pressure in this area.

And the high pressure has no intention of moving any time soon, according to state meteorologist Ingri Halland Soldal at the Meteorological Institute.

– Therefore, quite nice weather is expected for the next few days. It will be cool, with a northerly wind, but it will be lingering weather. Especially in Eastern Norway, long periods of sunshine are expected, she tells Dagbladet on Saturday morning.

They will also get sun in Rogaland and Hordaland, where the winter holidays start on Monday:

– It will be very pleasant for those who have time off. Relatively calm wind conditions, only occasional small gales on the coast of Western Norway.

Night frost

Halland Soldal also asks people to prepare for large temperature fluctuations. The sun will warm during the day; in some places the protractors can creep up to five or six degrees.

– But then there will be night frost in the evening, so it will be cold in the morning compared to the middle of the day.

The forecasts are not as promising for Møre og Romsdal and Trøndelag. On Saturday, snow showers are expected in combination with a northerly wind.

– Tomorrow the wind will shift to a westerly direction, and there will be milder air. There will still be precipitation, which will fall as rain throughout the day, says the meteorologist.

Precipitation in the north

The reason is a low pressure that lies slightly north of Svalbard and Greenland. This low pressure has a front that will also bring precipitation in Nordland and Troms, explains Halland Soldal.

– It will also fall as snow today, while there may be a little more rain on the coast tomorrow.

Finnmark, for its part, seems to escape the worst of the rainfall. It will be cloudy there, but drier than in the neighboring county, according to the meteorologist.

After the weekend, parts of Troms and Finnmark will be hit by an increase in wind. In this connection, the Norwegian Meteorological Institute has sent out a danger warning for snow squalls, which occur when it snows in combination with strong gusts of wind.

– We recommend spending a little extra time if you are going out for a drive, follow road signs and make sure the car is properly locked, concludes the meteorologist.
