Manchester City may have had his most important win of the season today. As a reminder, the club was punished by UEFA in February for not complying with the rules surrounding the Financial Fair Play. The punishment was severe. City was excluded from European football for two years and was fined 30 million euros. But City appealed to the TAS and made his move.
The three judges of the TAS ruled that the club had not broken the rules and so the suspension was reversed. City has been criticized for not participating in the UEFA investigation and has to pay a fine of 10 million euros for that.
It is still a few days to wait for the full motivation of the TAS, but the International Sports Tribunal said that for a number of offenses not enough evidence had been provided and that other offenses were now barred. DThe statement is of course good news for the club. During a suspension, some star players, such as Kevin De Bruyne, threatened to leave.
UEFA said in a short statement that it “took note of the decision”. “We continue to strive to keep clubs financially healthy.”
