Harianjogja.com, BANTUL – The Bantul Health Office stated that cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DBD) in Bantul had decreased in the last three months. The decrease in cases of the disease caused by the Aedes aegypti mosquito is thought to be due to the fact that people are increasingly aware of eradicating mosquito nests (PSN).
“In general, the development trend of DHF cases has decreased since June,” said Sri Wahyu Joko Santoso, Head of the Controlling Disease Control Division, Bantul Health Service, via a short message on the Whatsapp application, Tuesday (13/10/2020).
The man who is familiarly called Oki recorded a total of 1,085 cases of dengue fever in Bantul by the end of September. There were 123 cases in June, then in June 85 cases, and September there were 17 cases of DHF reported.
While the most cases were in Bantul District with 131 cases and 14 cases in Dlingo District. He ensured that the reduction in dengue cases had nothing to do with an increase in cases of Coronavirus Disease or Covid-19.
According to him, the transmission of dengue fever is greatly influenced by changes in weather. Even though cases have decreased, ahead of this rainy season, Oki asked the public not to be careless.
He appealed to the public to continue to eradicate mosquito nests in their respective neighborhoods and carry out 3M, namely draining water reservoirs that are alleged to be mosquito breeding locations, closing water reservoirs, and burying or reusing used goods.
“But still with health protocol procedures [Covid-19], “Said Oki.
