Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia– The handling of the Covid-19 pandemic nationally has now shown significant achievements. Coordinator of the Expert Team and Spokesperson for the Covid-19 Handling Task Force Prof. Wiku Adisasmito showed a significant result in the graph of the decrease in the percentage of active cases at the national level.
“The percentage of active cases in Indonesia has continued to decline since the beginning of the pandemic. In March (2020) the average active cases stood at 91.26%, which is very high. Then this continues to decline,” he explained when giving a press statement on the progress of the handling of Covid. -19 broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat YouTube channel, Thursday (22/10/2020).
He continued, the graph decline was seen again in April 2020 to 81.57%. In May it decreased again to 71.35%, June to 57.25%, July fell to 44.02%, August fell again to 28.26%, September fell again to 23.74%, and as of October 22, 2020 the percentage active cases have fallen again to 16.8%.
According to Wiku, the percentage decrease from month to month is quite drastic and it is a very good development. “Active cases, hopefully it can continue to decline and be suppressed until there are no active cases at all until all of them are cured. Active cases can be suppressed by minimizing transmission and all levels of society can contribute to implementing health protocols, namely # jagajarak, #pakaimasker and #cucitangan,” he said.
However, even though nationally the percentage of active cases shows good results, there are still districts / cities that have a number of active cases above 1000. Wiku Adisasmito said there are 12 districts / cities that are in the spotlight because they have not shown significant improvement in results.
The twelve regions are Bekasi (1,039), Central Jakarta (1,211), North Jakarta (1,343), Bekasi City (1,410), Bogor (1,484), Depok City (1,897), South Jakarta (1,952), Jayapura City (1,959), West Jakarta (2,023), East Jakarta (2,781), Padang City (2,816) and Pekanbaru City (2,909).
Regrettably, these 12 districts / cities have been in condition for weeks with the number of active cases exceeding 1000 cases. Admittedly, these 12 districts / cities are in the category of big cities whose economic activities are already running. And this, said Wiku, is the biggest challenge is that the health protocol can actually be implemented in every community activity.
“We ask the local governments from 12 districts / cities to work and feel like pressing the number of active cases by strictly monitoring the discipline of the community in implementing health protocols, especially in the existing economic and social sectors,” he said.
In addition, developments in the handling of Covid-19 as of October 22, 2020 show that the number of active cases is 63,576 cases or 16.8% compared to the world average of 21.9%. The addition of positive cases was 4,432 cases, the number of cured cases had reached 301,006 cases or 79.9% compared to the world average of 75.1% and 12,959 cases died or 3.4% compared to the world average of 2.85% .
