For Bulgarians, September 9 is a tragic day, even called a dark day, because of the sudden change in the upward path the country is on. On that day, the Bolshevik troops, together with the BKP, took power. For 45 years, our country remained part of the Eastern bloc formed around the USSR after the Second World War. If the Nuremberg tribunal sentenced to death only 12 close to Hitler because of the war that caused the death of 50 million people, the Bulgarian People’s Court issued death sentences to 2730 people, and sent thousands to prisons, evicted families. The most intelligent and clever people are wiped out, the people rule with all its cruelty and hypocrisy.
The documentary film of the State Archives Agency best tells about the looting of Bulgaria by the Soviet authorities “The Second Liberation”.
But September 9 is actually most often a pleasant pre-autumn day, on which Joakim Gruev, Lev N. Tolstoy, Venerable Stoina, Stanislav Stratiev and others were born. This day has been chosen as Chrysanthemum Festival in Japan and World Beauty Day by the International Committee of Aesthetics and Cosmetology.
Also today, the Agricultural University will open the new academic year at 10:30 am.
