ABC and Good Morning America have an ongoing lawsuit. Deadline reports that a GMA staff member filed a new complaint against the network, saying the network retaliated against her after filing a sexual assault complaint involving a top producer. Employee Kirstyn Crawford changed her original case on Wednesday, September 15. In the amended lawsuit, Crawford says the retaliation took the form of the network “not offering her the job security and pay rise that she deserved.”
In Crawford’s original case, she accused Michael Corn, chief producer of GMA, of sexually assaulting her during a trip to Los Angeles in 2015. The team was in town to cover the Oscars. Corn maintains his innocence, calling Crawford’s allegations “patently false”. He left GMA following the scandal in April and now works as the president of NewsNation from Nexstar.
In his amended lawsuit, Crawford says that since the lawsuit was filed, ABC has delayed talks about signing his contract. “It wasn’t until July 2021, about four months after Crawford filed the formal complaint, and just a month before his 2018 contract expired, that ABC contacted Crawford about his expiring contract” , partly states the Crawford trial. “Instead of offering Crawford another three-year contract, ABC simply offered a six-month extension and didn’t even offer a nominal pay raise.”
According to Crawford, ABC Network executives were made aware of the 2015 alleged sexual assault in 2017, but chose not to take action against Corn. The network released a statement challenging Crawford’s claims, saying they would take the case to court. The modified official costume can be found in its entirety via the public archives.
