Good insurance cover for more responsibility

Regarding the question of whether insurance coverage is effective for flu vaccinations, Arif emphasized that he could not give general answers, as the policies of different insurance providers differ greatly from one another. While some providers insure all activities in the pharmacy, other providers explicitly formulate the insured activities. In this case, an exact coordination with the insurer is indicated, since so far only a small part of the pharmacies vaccinate and this offer is not yet known for many insurance companies. Of all things, Allianz SE, Germany’s largest insurer, was particularly negative for pharmacies. These would require a surcharge of € 833 for every licensed person who is allowed to vaccinate in the pharmacy – which would usually multiply the previously required insurance costs.

Arif also sees a neuralgic point in the fact that it is not possible to be insured against infections by patients in the pharmacy, for example in the case of COVID-19. In the event of a lawsuit, the burden of proof would be reversed, so that a pharmacist would have to prove that he had complied with all the necessary hygiene regulations during the vaccination.
