Good grades can have less to say for choosing a high school in Oslo

The City Council is now looking at a completely new model for admission to upper secondary school. Hersleb students are positive about more mix of students, but fear there will be a difference between the students at the school.

School councilor Sunniva Holmås Eidsvoll (SV) hopes there is a political will to consider a completely new admission model for upper secondary school in Oslo. The so-called mixing model has never been tested in Norway, but is in use in parts of London.

Oslo is the city in the country with by far the largest character differences between its upper secondary schools. The City Council has long announced that they want to study new intake models to try to change this. They want an end to some schools being perceived as “losers or winners”.

Throughout the autumn, the city council, with the help of researchers, has simulated the effect of various models. School councilor Sunniva Holmås Eidsvoll (SV) is now ready to present information about a completely new model to the city council.
