“Good chances of getting through the winter without blackouts”: German City Day

In the discussion on energy supply in winter, the German Association of Cities warned against scaremongering. Dedy said on “Current Hour” on WDR:

“From what we can estimate, the risk of a blackout is currently no higher than the average for the year. We need to see how the winter turns out if we save 20 percent on gas. That’s our common goal, so I think you have a good chance of getting through the winter properly.”

Dedy added to the Rheinische Post:

“We shouldn’t react with panic now, but with a joint effort. Cities want to save 20% on gas. If everyone pursues this goal together, I see a good chance of getting through the winter without blackouts. They need to take precautions and keep reserves of emergency energy. Federal states and local authorities have joint responsibility for disaster control.”
