The Kemnath standby and blood donation service of the Bavarian Red Cross invited people to the multi-purpose hall for bloodletting. 204 donors responded to the call.
Among the donors there were also 16 people who had their blood drawn for the first time, Kristina Konz, the on-call manager, is pleased about the response. In the Free State alone, around 2000 blood supplies are needed every day, with which up to three sick or injured people can be helped. “A blood donation is help that arrives and gives seriously ill patients a chance of survival,” says the BRK’s blood donation service.
The possible dates for blood donation in Kemnath, which could be selected every 15 minutes between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., were quickly booked out in advance (we report). Therefore, Konz had contacted the blood donation service, whereby the offer could be increased by 50 additional appointment donation places at short notice, “said Konz.
The offer to choose a date for the bloodletting was well received. With a booking, you save yourself a potential waiting time for a free donor couch. “This means that blood donation is generally more fluid,” explains Konz, which the donors also rated positively
In conclusion, the on-call manager emphasizes that those willing to donate can come to donate blood at any time without a previously booked appointment. “An appointment does not have to be booked. But with an appointment you save longer waiting times.”
In particular, Konz thanks all blood donors for their donation and their mark against indifference and for charity, as well as the city of Kemnath for providing the multi-purpose hall. The standby manager is particularly proud of the BRK standby team.
