Despite the snow storm and poor road conditions, the blood donation in Kemnath on Tuesday was well attended. 196 people willing to donate came.
However, the weather had an impact on the planned donation process.
The blood donation service and the Kemnath readiness of the Bavarian Red Cross had invited to the multi-purpose hall in Kemnath to donate blood. The response to the bloodletting was gratifyingly good despite the snow storm, adverse road conditions and the corona pandemic.
“The willingness to come to donate blood is still unchecked in Kemnath, contrary to the last few years”, reports the Kemnath BRK on-call manager Kristina Konz late in the evening after the appointment. This testifies to humanity and charity, because the blood reserves and preparations obtained can help up to three people per donor.
A total of 196 people came to the multi-purpose hall on Tuesday. 185 people were counted as “actual donors” who each had half a liter of blood drawn off. 11 people had health and medical concerns from the doctors responsible for approving blood donation, which is why they were not allowed to donate their blood.
In addition to the “experienced” donors “there were also 13 newcomers.” Donating blood is an affair of the heart, with which one shows a lot of heart to fellow human beings and takes responsibility in society, “conc praised their commitment
A number of hardworking hands were involved in the organization, preparation, follow-up and procedure of the bloodletting. The on-call manager thanked the team of the BRK blood donation service as well as the hall attendants and the city of Kemnath. “There were no complications or incidents,” adds Konz. “Everyone adhered to the regulations and specifications, the instructions and the regulated donation process.” Anyone who had forgotten their mask or wanted a medical mask was given one. Despite the rush, the waiting times for the 14 donor beds were manageable and short.
The weather nevertheless had an impact on the donation process. The actually planned access to the blood donation in the multi-purpose hall via the rear entrance from the direction of the indoor pool had to be relocated to the actual main entrance. “With those in charge of the multi-purpose hall, it was decided at short notice not to choose this access due to the weather conditions, but to enter the multi-purpose hall via the regular main entrance at the foyer,” explains Kristina Konz. “The one-way traffic so that the paths of the donation process don’t cross and this prevented contacts or close encounters, but could still be kept. ” The exit from the multi-purpose hall was created via the changing wing via the “boot walkway”. In a spacious changing room there were also the care packages and collection points for the Sibyllenbad and the “Cineplanet” cinema.
