Gonzalo Higuain (33) has disappeared from the limelight since moving from Juventus Turin to Major League Soccer. That doesn’t bother the Argentine. On the contrary. He enjoys the new freedom in the USA.

“Football is not a priority here. There are other sports that feel a lot of pressure,” Higuain told the daily LA NACION: “The people on the street don’t judge me if I miss a goal.”
Higuain, who, like his ex-Juve colleague Blaise Matuidi, signed with Inter Miami, is not under constant media scrutiny as a footballer in the USA as it is in Europe. “When I stand in a queue, I feel like a normal citizen.”

This is a “nice feeling”, said the vice world champion from 2014: “I wanted to experience that.” Higuain continues: “I’m really, really happy now because I got what I wanted: leaving this pressure, the inquiries, the press and criticism behind me.”
