Largely behind at the break, Cesson-Rennes Métropole Handball was able to revive against Créteil in the second act. Passed very close to victory, the Indomitables however bowed in the last moments (29-28).
A bitter lack of success
After his disappointing performance against Sélestat (29-28 defeat), the red lantern of Liqui Moly Starligue, Cesson-Rennes Métropole Handball had to react this Friday evening on the Créteil floor. And Sébastien Leriche’s men got into the game rather well. With an aggressive and well-organized defense, they pushed the locals to lose many balls in the first minutes. Unfortunately, it was on the other side of the field that the Bretilliens were fishing against an exceptional Dylan Be who continued to deploy in front of his goal.
Créteil takes off before the break
The offensive difficulties of the CRMHB increased minute by minute. And if the score was still parity approaching the first quarter of an hour (6-6, 13th), the Cristoliens then managed to widen a first comfortable gap of three lengths (9-6, 20th). Irreproachable at the start of the game, the Cessonnaise defense completely crumbled, leaving Arnaud Tabarand powerless too often alone against his opponents. At the end of the first period, Cesson-Rennes was therefore logically behind (15-11) and the second act did not bode well for Sylvain Hochet’s partners.
Cesson-Rennes is fully relaunched
Upon returning from the locker room, the physiognomy remained unchanged as the locals continued their march forward. The gap stabilized around four goals in favor of USC while the visitors still did not seem on their plate (16-12, 34th). But the Indomitables managed to raise their level of play to reduce the mark and even come back up to Créteil (19-19, 43rd). Hope was logically reborn in the ranks of Cesson-Rennes Métropole Handball while there was still a lot of time left on the scoreboard.
A breathtaking ending
Again left behind as the end of the match approached, the Bretons once again showed exceptional resources to come back and take the lead (27-28, 59th). The tension rose in the room while the possessions were now decisive. And it was finally Bruno Butorac who offered victory to the Cristoliens seven seconds before the siren sounded. Beaten on the wire (29-28), Cesson-Rennes therefore had a seventh game in a row without success.
